Screen Shot 2015-07-30 at 7.22.39 PMIn the movie About Time, when Tim Lake turns 21, his father tells him a secret: The men in their family can travel through time. Tim can have a “life do-over” whenever he wants. What a concept! And what incredible life lessons I took from this romantic dramady.

I remember seeing About Time at a friend’s house and feeling awestruck. The moment the credits rolled I had an epiphany of inspiration and the 12 minutes it took me to drive home was all I needed for a life-changing program to unfold in my brain. I went straight from my car to my computer and recorded a training based on this concept of “life do-overs.” I titled it “Changing Your Life Through Time Travel.” The reactions from those who did the training matched my awestruck sentiments when the film ended. This is a life changer! I offer the free editable journal here:

Two weeks ago, I watched The Big Chill, for the first time in years, and again, had an epiphany… this one a bit more sobering, but inspiring none the less.

When I saw the movie Crash, one scene in it changed my life and how I live it, forever. I shared about it in a video, hoping to impact others with the small scene that most miss in the flurry of controversial topics the movie addresses.

I share these three examples because movies are and have ALWAYS been the major source of inspiration for me. It’s one of the reasons I left everyone I knew and loved in NY and relocated to CA to work in entertainment. I wanted to give back and inspire others through movies. While that relocation did lead to me writing and acting in movies, it predominantly took me in a very different direction. But because my source of inspiration was a constant (In the past 20 years I’ve averaged between 1-5 movies watched/week,) my creativity and the ability to create art through writing, speaking, social media, and my businesses, have never ceased. Every time I’ve felt stuck or blocked, I’ve gone to a movie theater or put in a DVD. Without fail I’ve always found inspiration.

I meet so many unsatisfied people. When I ask what they are passionate about, either they don’t know, or struggle with what was a passion is now a pressure. I follow up by asking, what inspires them. As you can imagine, they never have an answer. Perhaps they think of one after I’m gone, or a few days later, but for the most part, I’ve deduced that unsatisfied people are lacking inspiration.

If you have an unlimited resource for inspiration, like I do, I’d love for you to share it in the comment section below.

If like most, you don’t, but you’re still reading this because you want to feel inspired, I ask you these questions:

  1. What inspired you as a child?
  2. When was the last time you felt inspired and what was the cause?
  3. What do you accomplish when you feel inspired?

Inspiration is a gift that you deserve to open every single day. If you have that gift, cherish it. If not, do whatever it takes to discover it.

AND ACTION!

  1. Make a list of 20 things that inspired you growing up.
  2. How can you tap into that list now?

Tim discovered that when he was truly inspired, he no longer needed his “life do-overs.” Let inspiration be your power source!
