One of the basic concepts in psychology is the pleasure/pain principle. So long as the pleasure is even minimally more than the pain no change occurs. You’ve asked some solid questions of yourself and others. I believe that many times the pain is deferred while the pleasure is immediate. That’s where the rub comes in and why, often, a wake up call is what precipitates change.

Jessica, first of all I laughed at the Claire high heels comment. I really think Nike missed an opportunity there. Back to your motivation ideas, great thought to give people 90 days to work on their “massive motivators.” Thanks!
